Master Chinese in Three Months

A Letter to Parents and Children Who Are Learning or Willing to Learn Chinese

                                                                                                                 —— Cambridge Academy Chinese Department

s your child currently learning Chinese?

Has your child been learning Chinese intermittently for a long time—perhaps a year, two years, or even longer? How is your child’s actual Chinese level? For most children, progress might be minimal.

Why is it that children, after studying Chinese so hard for such a long time, achieve so little?

I - We would like to share with you our experience on the reasons:

1. The Issue of Format of Learning Chinese

Most children learn Chinese by attending weekend Chinese school with a few lessons per week. Whether in a large class, small class, or one-on-one lessons, this approach not only wastes precious weekend time but also tends to focus more on imitating English learning format rather than effectively learning Chinese as essence. In many cases, this type of learning only performs the function of psychological comfort. This so-called "easy" way is actually one of the most common and least effective way for learning Chinese. The reason is simple: The effectiveness of language learning ultimately comes down to how much of the language content is retained and how proficient one becomes at its core, it is a battle between memory retention and forgetting. For children who study Chinese only a few hours per week, most of their time is spent forgetting what they have learned. Even if teachers remind parents to ensure their children review at home, younger kids often lack initiative, and parents may not have the time to supervise or do it effectively, making home reviews practically unhelpful and hard to achieve good results. Consequently, children might fall into a vicious cycle of learning two things and forget one, or even learn three things and forget two week after week. The amount of knowledge retained is very limited.

Therefore, the best format for most people (including children) to learn a foreign language is to engage in intensive learning over a short period of time. This allows them to accumulate a large amount of knowledge rapidly, letting what they remember far exceed what they forget. The key is that language learning must be "fast-tracked." This is the only truly efficient format to learn a language. (Parents, please note that we are referring to the learning format here, not the learning method.)

Additionally, parents who have learned a foreign language or are proficient in one understand that mastering anything requires a process from quantitative accumulation to qualitative transformation. Language learning is no different. Only after amassing enough knowledge to create a qualitative leap in understanding will the language be fully mastered. Once a child reaches this level of fluency, even if they do not use the language for years, there may be some rusty for them, but they will never forget the language skill. And the purpose of fast-track language learning is to help children quickly reach this level, achieving that transformative process from quantitative to qualitative, where they swiftly master the language. Once the language is mastered in this way, it becomes a lifelong skill that the children will never lose. This ensures that the time and effort invested by both the children and the parents are truly efficient and not wasted.

However, during the process of language learning by remembering and forgetting, then relearning in a slow, dragging manner, leads to a vicious cycle. This eventually leads to  acquisition of language taking far too long, and for many, it even becomes the reason why they ultimately fail to learn the language. Children must not follow this ineffective and frustrating path in their language learning journey.

2. Inefficient Methods of Learning Chinese

Due to the inefficiency methods in learning Chinese, the limited content covered in just a few lessons per week becomes a significant drawback. This is precisely where we take the most pride. Since we have the most efficient method for learning Chinese, developed by our school's principal, Mr. Dean Ding, an expert in student education. This method significantly increases the amount of knowledge children can gain in each lesson compared to their original methods. Once you understand this method, you will have confidence that your child can master Chinese in a short period—as a language many consider one of the most difficult in the world.

3. Children go through such a long Chinese learning process without seeing the tangible result of 'learning and applying Chinese.

Children often lose enthusiasm for learning Chinese because they fail to see the results, such as being able to use Chinese in real-life situations. This causes them to view learning Chinese, which should be enjoyable, as increasingly tedious. Over time, they lose the initiative to learn. Even if your child is enrolled in one-on-one lessons, whether online or in-person, these same problems arise, leading to a vicious cycle. As a result, children spend more time and energy trying to master Chinese, and many may give up halfway, never fully acquiring this essential skill.

4. the Psychological Impact of Long-Term Failure

Most importantly, failing to learn Chinese over a long period is not a simple matter for children. Many parents may not realize that when their child spends a long time working on something without success, the feeling of failure can deeply affect their subconscious and significantly impact their confidence in learning or doing other tasks. This kind of invisible harm is even more frightening. (This is a very important issue. Although we could delve too deeply here, you can find more information about this from Mr. Ding’s recent YouTube channel, “丁老师讲教育”, where he provides insightful explanations on educational issues related to children.) Therefore, if you want your child to truly master Chinese and benefit from it throughout life, and if you have realized that successfully learning Chinese can also boost your child’s confidence in other areas, then it is time to abandon ineffective learning methods and join our Chinese courses. We offer a brand new format and method to learn Chinese. The direct result is that your child will be able to read, write, and communicate in Chinese within three months using their part time (every evenings). In just three months, children can acquire the ability to read, write, and communicate in Chinese, instilling in them a newfound confidence in learning and doing things. This sets them on a path toward a positive cycle in life.

As for how we achieve such incredible results, simply give us a call or visit our school for a consultation, and all your questions will be answered. You will discover that there truly is a magical method for learning Chinese.

II - About Our Course:

1. Target Audience: Students aged 10-16.

2. Course Structure and Objectives:

Our courses are structured based on the principles of rapid language acquisition, which include:

  • Intensive learning in a short period.

  • Achieving mastery of Chinese quickly to reach a qualitative change in language ability, ensuring that Chinese becomes a lifelong skill.

3. Courses are divided into three terms:

First Term - Basic Course: This three-month course enables students to read and communicate in Chinese. Before the course begins, we will show parents a Chinese book that will serve as the benchmark for testing the child's proficiency at the end of the course. The child must be able to read and explain the content of the book in Chinese.

Second Term - Intermediate Course: A two-month course that helps students achieve fluency close to native speaker levels.

Third Term - Chinese Standardized HSK Exam Course: A one-month course that prepares students to pass HSK Levels 5-6.

We have not seen any Chinese language school willing to guarantee how long it will take students to learn Chinese, along with an objective testing standard; nor have we seen any school promise to refund tuition if a child does not meet the learning standards. Our school stands apart from others because we guarantee that each child will reach the specified level by the end of each course. If they do not achieve this level, we promise a tuition refund as stated in our Agreement. Our commitment is not merely a tactic to attract you or enroll your child. We certainly do not aim to refund tuition after failing to deliver results. We are confident that such a situation will never arise, as we fully believe in our teaching methods and capabilities. We can guarantee the educational standards we promise, and we hold ourselves accountable to achieve this. Even if we refund tuition to demonstrate our credibility, that is not our ultimate goal. We recognize that while tuition can be refunded, the time and energy invested by students and parents can never be regained. These are far more valuable than money. Based on this principle, our teaching methods, developed by Mr. Ding, ensure that every student who participates in our program will master Chinese. We are committed to not wasting the precious time, energy, and lives of our students and their families; this is our true pursuit.

III - Tuition and Testing

To ensure that students achieve such a high level of Chinese proficiency in a short time, they must learn with extreme efficiency. We have established high-efficiency learning methods, but such learning requires certain psychological and intellectual capabilities from the children. Therefore, to guarantee that every student we enrol can achieve the learning outcomes mentioned above, we conduct psychological and intellectual assessments during the admissions process (our assessments are open and transparent, requiring parental involvement, and both parents and we receive the results simultaneously). If a child could not pass the assessment, it indicates that they cannot withstand the intensity required by our courses. Participating under duress would not meet the learning standards we have set or the parents' expectations, so we will not select such children for our courses.

As for this part, we truly welcome you to bring your child in for a consultation and to assess whether they have the potential to learn Chinese in a short time. Consider it a small challenge; there is no need to worry, as this test is free of charge.

IV - Course Fees

Our course pricing depends on various factors, such as: pay in instalments or in one lump, whether you enrol in one or two terms, your child's test results and their corresponding level, as well as the timing of your registration and eligibility for any discounts. Therefore, you will need to visit us to get detailed information about our pricing structure and ultimately determine your specific cost. Nonetheless, based on our teaching methods, quality, and the guarantee that we will refund tuition if learning does not meet the standards recognized by parents and us, our prices are undoubtedly higher than the current market rates. The principle is simple: you get what you pay for. However, to promote our education and raise awareness about our unique teaching approach and its distinctive results, we are currently offering prices similar to promotional rates, aligning with the average cost of one-on-one courses (online or in-person) for this age group (10-16) in the Toronto area. But, in terms of effectiveness, the results of those so-called one-on-one courses cannot compare to ours at all. We offer trial classes, and once you experience them firsthand, you'll realize just how invaluable our courses truly are.

Beyond the price, you should also consider the significant amount of time and energy you and your child invest in learning Chinese. As we have emphasized, while money can be earned back, the time and energy your child spends are irreplaceable once lost. Missing the optimal period for mastering Chinese can have lasting negative effects on your child's future. We not only ensure that you will not spend excessively compared to the current average rates, but more importantly, we guarantee that your child's time will not be wasted. We offer you an opportunity for your child to gain a skill that typically takes years to master in just three months of part time. Undoubtedly, after this short period, your child will surpass all their peers who have previously studied Chinese. At that point, you will undoubtedly feel proud of their achievements.

V - Consultation

It is difficult to fully explain the details regarding course setup, payment methods, effectiveness guarantees, refund policies, and other regulations in just one letter. You will receive a comprehensive explanation during your consultation visit to the school.

Please come for a face-to-face consultation at our school, and be sure to bring your child. After the consultation, you will understand what true Chinese education is and even what genuine education means and realize how significant this Chinese learning experience can be for your child's life.
