As I continued to study in Canada, I began to realize that Western education is not perfect. Although Western educational theories have their own uniqueness, especially in encouraging children to think independently and develop personality, as an Asian, I am deeply influenced by traditional moral education. I firmly believe that children’s education is not just about knowledge. and skill development, and more importantly, the shaping of morals and values.
The individualized development emphasized by Western education allows children to learn to think independently and be brave in innovation, which is undoubtedly an indispensable part of education. However, Asian educational traditions, especially those about benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and trustworthiness, train children to become responsible people who know how to respect and care for others. Such education is also very important for children to form correct cognition and worldview.
Therefore, a truly effective education should be a combination of both. Uncle's education system is exactly in line with this, cultivating children to think independently and teaching traditional culture. I hope that in the future, like uncle, I can have a deep understanding and unique insights into education, and cultivate the next generation that is both independent and moral.
