將要到來的秋天

一、

隨著幾場陣雨的落下，空氣也變得分外涼爽了起來。走在路上的時候，發現有些樹葉已陡然變成了紅色。也許要不了多久，它們便會浸染上其他的葉子，於是整條街都會變成同樣的色彩。那究竟會是什麼樣子呢？每當想起這個，心裡總是不禁地期待了起來。秋天要來了啊。

Along with the raining of recent time, air becomes quite cool. Walking on the road, I suddenly found that some leaves had turned red. Maybe before long, they will dye other leaves with the same color. What would that look like? Thinking of this, I felt looking forward to it. Time has flowing away unconsciously, has come autumn.

現在十二年級有一門英語和一門寫作課。寫作課比較有意思，介紹了許多寫作的類型和體裁。其中有一個是寫自傳。老師給了我們幾個話題，然後讓我們寫完做成展示。我選了初中的第一年，因為那年我從一個城市去到了另一個城市，所以有許多可以寫的事情。

Grade 12 now has one English class and one Writing class. Writing class is more interesting, and introduces many genres. One of the genres is memoir. Teacher gave us a few topics, and asked us to make a presentation. I chose the first-year of high school as my topic. Because then I had come from one city to another, I would have a lot to write.

在前幾周的清晨，我終於參加了托福考試，只是沒有想到竟然考了105，於是長長地在心裡舒了口氣，爾後高興地與同學們分享了這件事情。自然有很多話想要說出來，但最後還是隻能傻笑。誠實地說，因為從未測驗過自己的原因，又因為初中時英語便很差的緣故，我從沒想到可以取得這樣的成績。如果不是來到這裡，大概我的英語永遠會是那個樣子，並且現在正在為高考苦惱吧。

After not a short wait, on the morning of last Saturday, I finally took part in TOEFL test. The score came out on this Friday. It was 105, and I heaved a sigh of relief, after which I told this to my classmates happily. Of course, I had many things to say, but due the limitation of my expression, they all turned in to continuous laughs. To be honest, because I had never tested myself, and I was bad at English back since middle school, I didn’t think I could get such a grade, and was sometimes worried about the test. If not for coming here, my English would probably be bad forever, and struggled under the press of examination of high school.

小山最近寫了幾幅字，用的是篆書。雖然有時候如果不問的話，看不懂他寫的是什麼字，但我還是覺得真是很好看，覺得裡邊有股古樸的味道不知道該怎樣形容。說起來，西方並沒有書法這樣的東西，不知道他們看到這些會是什麼樣的感受呢？

Mountain recently wrote several pieces of calligraphy, the style of which were seal character. Though I wouldn’t have known what characters he wrote if I had not asked, still thought these pieces were quite beautiful and felt there was a sort of old charm in it. As for calligraphy, west doesn’t have this kind of thing. What would they feel when they see this?

三、

自考完試來感到自己有些懶惰，大抵是因為沒什麼壓力的原因了吧。不過還是要迅速重新恢復過來，畢竟學習是為自己學的，而不是為考試或者別人而學的。如果因為考試通過就覺得萬事大吉而停止了進步，那是十分愚蠢的事情。從現在開始快些努力起來！

I feel that, after test, I have turned lazy, which I think is largely because of lack of pressure. I need to come back soon, since I conclude study is still for myself but others. If I feel good and stop progressing just after a test, I think it is very stupid. Go forward now!

幾週前從行李箱裡翻出來了本《墨子》，才想起來我在來加拿大時帶了這樣一本書。最近認真地看了看，覺得很有意思。據說在春秋戰國時，墨學和儒學並稱兩大顯學，但是後來因為獨尊儒術的緣故，墨學也就因而徹底沒落了。墨子少年時也曾學過儒學，不過後來因為不喜其主張而開創了自己的學說。其中，他認為儒學的禮樂有時雖然也很華美，但那時底下的老百姓的生活已很艱苦，所以不應將時間和精力浪費在這樣的事上，反而應該去除奢華，重視實用；並在邏輯學和自然科學方面留下了許多重要的言論——這是先秦諸子中的首位。當然裡邊還有許多其他內容——如與儒家親疏有別的仁愛相別無親疏之別的兼愛，或者儒家認為人有定命而他卻覺得命由自造等等——但這裡就不再說了。總之，這是本很有趣的書。

A few weeks ago, I found a book called Mo-tse in my suitcase and then remembered that I had brought this book along with me to Canada. I read it carefully lately and found it quite interesting. It has been said that the theories of Confucius and Mo-tse were both very important back to their times, but along with the later emperor’s regarding the theory of Confucius only, Mo-tse’s theory got ignored since. Mo-tse used to study Confucius when he was young, but since he disagreed with it, he constructed his own theory. In the book, he thought that though many things supported by Confucius were beautiful, since the low-rank people were already under a poor condition, the society should not waste time on such things but should consider the practical value; and left many words on logic and natural science, a focus which only existed in the theory of Mo-tse back to his time. Of course, there are also other contents, but I will not excerpt here. Altogether this is an interesting book.
